MOTAT

We had a great day at MOTAT doing our own Myth Busting and science experiments.

We were able to discover the answers to questions such as, can electricity travel through our body, can a child lift an adult, can a rainbow change its colours?

It was lots of fun, plus we got to explore other parts of MOTAT.

I can't wait to go back.

SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY

All we had to do was 'give it a go' and ' have fun'. Boy did we have fun!

The weather was good - well mostly. The competition was stiff and we ran a long way.

I can't wait until next year's cross country

DECAY, PLAQUE AND BRUSHING OUR TEETH

Today as part of Science we used ourselves as an experiment!
We have been studying bacteria (plaque) and the impact it has on our teeth, we have also been learning how to reduce tooth decay by brushing our teeth correctly.
Each student had a disclosing tablet that they sucked, this turned the plaque into pink. We used a mirror to check out our teeth, yuck.
We then brushed our teeth with a tooth brush and toothpaste and saw how it removed most of the plaque, and we had healthy teeth again.
A huge thanks to Lumino Orewa for supplying individual packs for the students of disclosing tablets, balloon, drink bottle and tooth paste and tooth brush.

KELLY TARLTON VISIT

We had a school visit to Kelly Tarlton's to study animal habitats and their environment.

We also looked at the impact of climate change on these habitats.

The students had a wonderful time and enjoyed studying the different marine animals.

The obvious highlights were the penguins and the sharks - fortunately they weren't swimming together!

Look at me, I'm a fish

MORE INTENSIVE SWIM PHOTOS

INTENSIVE SWIM PROGRAMME

The Year 1-3 classes are attended an intensive swim programme at the Leisure Centre.
The programme runs for 4 days each week over a two week period.

The student’s confidence, swimming ability and stroke correction improve significantly over this time.

In addition, and probably most importantly they are having fun. Take a look for yourself!
